Avoid Wi-Fi Issues: Best Practice When You Change Broadband Provider

🌐 Recommended Way to Reconnect Your Renewable Devices After Changing Broadband

Your renewable system relies on a stable Wi-Fi connection to send data to the monitoring app and our support tools. Most support issues we see are caused by Wi-Fi changes. Here are our best practices to keep your system online.

šŸ”„ If You Change Your Router or Broadband

When you switch broadband provider or get a new router:

  • Set the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password on the new router to match your old router.
    • Example:
      • Old Wi-Fi name: HomeWifi
      • Old password: solarpanels123
      • Enter these same details on the new router.
  • āœ… This way, all your devices (including the inverter) will reconnect automatically — no need to reconfigure Wi-Fi on the inverter.

ā„¹ļø Tip: If you’re unsure how to update your router’s SSID and password, contact your broadband provider’s support team and ask for help setting it to match your old details.

āš ļø If You Can’t Reuse the Same Wi-Fi Details

If your new router won’t let you set the old Wi-Fi name/password:

  • You will need to manually reconnect your inverter to Wi-Fi.
  • Please use the correct guide for your brand:

šŸ“¶ Improving Wi-Fi Signal

If your inverter is far from the router:

  • Use a Wi-Fi extender/repeater to boost the signal.
  • Place it halfway between your router and inverter.
  • Choose a 2.4 GHz extender (dual-band is fine, but the inverter will only use 2.4 GHz).

šŸš€ Quick Summary

  • Always use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Keep SSID/password the same when you change routers to avoid reconnection headaches.
  • If you can’t reuse the same Wi-Fi name, follow the brand-specific reconnection guide.
  • Use a Wi-Fi extender if the signal is weak at the inverter’s location.
  • If unsure how to change router settings, ask your broadband provider’s support for assistance.
