📱 Fox ESS Wi-Fi Reconnection Guide (Using the App)
If your Fox ESS system shows offline in the FoxCloud app, it’s usually just a Wi-Fi issue. Most often this happens after you’ve changed your broadband router or Wi-Fi password.
Follow these steps to reconnect using the FoxCloud app.
Step 1 – Open the App
- Open the FoxCloud app on your phone.
- Log in with your installer/customer account.
- Tap the “MyFox” icon in the bottom right corner.
Step 2 – Select Wi-Fi Settings
- Tap on your inverter/datalogger device.
- Go to Wi-Fi Settings.
- Choose Reconfigure Wi-Fi.
Step 3 – Put Dongle in Setup Mode
- On the inverter, press the reset button on the dongle for ~5 seconds until the LED flashes quickly.
-
This means the dongle is ready for setup.
On your phone, the app will prompt you to connect to the dongle hotspot (
W-xxxxxxx). - Default hotspot password: mtmt2020
-
Step 4 – Enter Your Home Wi-Fi Details
- In the app, select your home Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz only).
- Enter your Wi-Fi password carefully.
- Tap Confirm / Save.
- The dongle will reboot and reconnect to your Wi-Fi.
Step 5 – Confirm Connection
-
Within 5 minutes, your inverter should show Online in the FoxCloud app.
LED indicator:
- ✅ Slow red flash with green blinks = Connected
- ⚠️ Rapid red flash only = Not connected (retry setup)
Troubleshooting
- Wi-Fi not found? Ensure your router is broadcasting 2.4 GHz. Fox ESS does not support 5 GHz.
- Wrong password? Re-run the app setup and carefully re-enter.
- Still offline? Try resetting the dongle (hold reset for 10 seconds) and repeat the steps.
- Weak signal? Place a Wi-Fi extender closer to the inverter.
