Midea R290 E7 Error

Fixing the E7 Error on Midea R290 Units

Some Midea R290 heat pumps may show an E7 error even when the unit has not malfunctioned.

This is caused by an issue in earlier firmware (V1.0.0.125) and can be resolved by upgrading to firmware V1.0.0.147 or later.

The firmware update corrects two problems:

  • Misreading the communication protocol string, which caused incorrect fault displays.
  • An incorrectly configured Tbt setting, which could also trigger the E7 error.

Updating the firmware usually clears the error and restores normal operation.

How to Update the Firmware (OTA)

Before you start

  • Ensure your wired controller is powered on and connected.
  • The update requires an internet connection (via Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot).

If you haven't already connect your phone to the Midea Smart home app :

    • Wait until the progress indicator reaches 100%.
    • The controller will restart automatically.
  2. After restart, check the HMI software version. It should show V1.0.0.147 or above.

    • enter the password 234 then press the ok button (middle circle)
