⚠️ Safety first: Always turn off the power to your heat pump before starting.
1. Locate the Filter Valve
- The filter is usually installed on the pipework near your heat pump.
- It may be inside by the rest of the equipment, or outside close to the unit.
- Look for a small valve body with a nut on the end — it may be brass, silver, or another metal.

2. Turn Off Power
- Switch off the power supply to the heat pump so the system is not running while you work.
3. Close the Valve
- Turn the valve handle so it sits at a right angle (perpendicular) to the pipe.
- This stops water flowing while you remove the filter.
4. Release the Nut
- Use a spanner or plumber’s grips to loosen the nut by turning it anticlockwise.
- A small trickle of water is normal.
- If more water pours out, stop and check the valve is fully closed.
5. Remove and Clean the Filter Gauze
- Inside the valve is a small mesh (gauze) filter.
- Carefully pull it out and rinse it under running water until clean.
- Remove any dirt, grit, or debris.
6. Reassemble
- Place the clean gauze back into the valve.
- Refit the nut and tighten it with the spanner.
- Open the valve again (lever in line with the pipe).
- Double-check the nut is tight and no water is leaking.
7. Reset and Restart
- Check your system pressure has returned to its normal operating range.
- Turn the heat pump’s power supply back on.
- If your system requires it, perform a reset following your manufacturer’s instructions.
- Samsung users: After power is restored, you will also need to turn the hot water back on via the controller.
